CTO as a Service.
Fractional CTO for startups and SMEs in Spain. Technical leadership, architecture and strategic decisions. Remote from Zaragoza, 15+ years.
Remote work with companies across Spain, based in Zaragoza.
01
What you get
- A senior CTO at the decision table from day one — with no search costs and no equity dilution.
- A technical roadmap aligned with the business strategy, not a task list.
- An engineering team in order: practices, clear ownership and a visible technical career path.
- Direct dialogue with investors, technical due diligence and the board on technology matters.
- Audit-ready documentation and procedures — Disaster Recovery, business continuity, runbooks and security policies, written to be operated rather than filed away.
02
How I work
-
01DiagnosisTwo weeks reading code, talking to the team and understanding the reality of the business. No slide decks.
-
0290-day planThree to five technical priorities, with measurable outcomes and clear owners. Approved with you before anything is touched.
-
03ExecutionWorking inside the team, not above it. Architecture decisions, hiring, vendor management and daily unblocking.
-
04CadenceQuarterly roadmap review. A clean handover when you hire your in-house CTO; that is what success looks like.
03
Who it's for
Seed/Series A startups
You need senior technical judgment but can't (or won't) pay for it full-time yet.
SMEs with a digital product
The team grew organically and your most experienced engineer no longer scales as a decision-maker.
Companies in transition
Your CTO is leaving, on notice, or you want to prepare a clean succession without losing momentum.
04
Typical use cases
- Defining the architecture of a SaaS product before the first senior hire.
- Supporting a funding round: technical due diligence, defending the stack and responding to investors.
- Reorganizing an engineering team that went from 5 to 25 people with no management structure.
- Auditing and refining the roadmap ahead of annual planning with the leadership team.
- Getting the company ready for an audit or due diligence: Disaster Recovery plan, BCP, operational runbooks, security policies and architecture and risk documentation.

Frequently asked questions
-
Q01
Do you replace my current CTO?No. I work with your CTO or tech lead — I add outside judgment and an extra band of seniority, I don't replace them. If there is no CTO, I take on the role until you hire one in-house.
-
Q02
How many days a week do you commit?Typically 1-3 days a week at the company, depending on need. The number of days matters less than being present for the critical decisions.
-
Q03
Do you sign NDAs and sector exclusivity?NDA always. Sector exclusivity by agreement — since e-commerce and telecom are my core, it's in your interest that I'm not working with a direct competitor at the same time.
-
Q04
Do you prepare the documentation and procedures that audits require?Yes. As part of the technical leadership, I leave the Disaster Recovery plan, business continuity (BCP), runbooks, information security policies and architecture and risk documentation written and operational — the material an audit or a due diligence process will ask for. If you also need an independent assessment of the stack, that's the Technical Audit service.
